  • Composer/performer and video artist Scott Bazar invites Athens-area musicians and sonic improvisers to participate in Pico Dorado, an audio-visual "arcade" game for rotating sextets.

After a brief demonstration, he will conduct the piece at ATHICA on Saturday, April 28th, beginning at 7:45pm.

Non-players are of course welcome to observe and enjoy!

Players are assigned one of six colors and are prompted by color-coded animated video cues to change pitch, tempo, etc.
Pico Dorado performances consist of 10 to 30 minute "rounds." Each round features a new ensemble.
Conceived in 2008, Pico Dorado made its first appearance at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Panama City, Florida in April 2010.  It was featured later that summer at the 2010 Birmingham Improv Festival.

    Participating Artists

Scott Bazar is busy in Panama City and beyond as guitarist and video conductor for improv space rock group Disco Vato, notorious grindcore band Pig Chicken, and noise merchants Dog Wayne Anderson.

For delightful videos and more information about Scott and Pico Dorado:

Killick. ATHICA’s frequent improviser, will be among the superb local musicians joining in the fun.
