Unraveled: Roustabout: An Exhibit by the Fiber Arts Collective
Curator: Caitlin Martell
Stephanie Gray Anderson, Calling the Flock (2002)
Meredith Re' Grimsley, Living Out My Fantasy Panties (the first month of the rest of my life) (2002)
We are pleased to announce Unraveled: Roustabout, an explosion of colorful site-specific installations, sculpture and wearable, even danceable art, by six of the ten members of the five-month old Unraveled Fiber Arts Collective; including founding members Stephanie Anderson, Daniel Davis, Meredith Re' Grimsley, Caitlin Martell, Theresa Sporer and newcomer Amanda Gary. The show was organized by UGA BFA candidate Caitlin Martell. Sensual, textural, witty and innovative are just a few of the words that come to mind when describing their experimental investigations into the uses of industrial and everyday materials. Unraveled: Roustabout expresses their need to create on a very visceral and manual level, which was the impetus for this diverse group of object makers? decision to combine forces. Most of the works have been created specifically for this exhibit.
